CASA volunteers could tell many stories about the children they help. They do make a tremendous difference in the lives of these vulnerable young ones. Here is one such story:
One of our CASAs was given a case that involved a young boy being removed from his home due to physical abuse and neglect. After moving between a relative's home and his mother's, stability was still being sought for this child.Though this case starts out like many of the others, four years later it has ended happily.
As a result of the CASA's recommendation, the boy was placed in a foster home with the hope of a better chance. After some unsuccessful foster homes, he was placed with his current family. Here he was enrolled in after-school lessons and activities and began to show improvement. He also learned to like to eat healthy foods and respect his peers and authorities. Everyone who knew him could see great improvements!
Since then, this boy's foster family has agreed to adopt him. He is now growing into a young man and is no longer in the system. We hope he has truly benefitted from the CASA program he was involved in. He is now thriving in a family who loves him and shows their support of him.
According to the CASA's last report, numerous good remarks and positiveobservations of this child will definitely be continued in the future. This child now has a stable home and is surrounded by parents who love him and are trying their best to offer him everything he needs to succeed in school, at home and in life.
